2 Years Old

Hayden is 2 today and I can't believe it. The last 2 years have gone so fast. At the age of 2 she is full of attitude, Ms. Independent, has the most contagious laugh, says the funniest things, can be such a stinker but can melt my heart in a second. We love our Haydie Babe so much!!

To celebrate we just had a little party at our house with her playgroup friends and her cousins. I made a butterfly cake, of course it barely resembled the picture I copied, but it was still a recognizable butterfly. That works.

Happy Birthday Hayden!!

*I've been trying to upload pictures for 45 minutes now and it's not happening. At this point I'm exhausted. So, I will try to post them tomorrow :)

The Survey Says.......

It's a boy! Today was the big day. He's healthy and every thing looks great. We're so excited!

This isn't the greatest profile picture but the other picture shows that it's definitely a boy. Ryan wasn't sure he wanted me to post the "boy parts picture" but how can I not, right?

Here is his one and only belonging.....a 3 piece suit. I bought it 3 months ago when I still had no idea what we were having. I found it on clearance at Target and couldn't pass it up. I was a little nervous that having it hanging in the closet might jinx us and we would never have a boy. Luckily, no jinx and a boy is on his way!

Tomorrow I will be 22 weeks, so here are some belly pictures. At church on Sunday a friend came up and said "You're huge!" and did the huge belly motion with her hands. All I could say was "I know." At least I'm 5 months along. A couple months ago that could have been traumatic but now it's just funny.

The next big step is naming the kid. We have absolutely no options because Ryan and I can't agree on a single name. My brother, Sean, said Cecil or Sport. Both of which got vetoed fast. Any suggestions?

Six Flags

We got season passes to Six Flags this year and made our first trip on Saturday. I am not a rollercoaster person at all but their water park opens in a few weeks. I'm planning on spending many days in the lazy river this summer.

Ryan went on a few rollercoasters but we spent most of our time in the kiddie area.

We went with some friends who have a girl Hayden's age. It was fun watching the girls on the rides. Haydens never been on any rides so she wasn't sure what to expect. This ride goes straight up and then drops back down. Hayden started out liking it but when it started to drop she got a terrified look on her face and started balling. The worker girl ended the ride early because she was crying so hard, but she couldn't get enough of the other rides.

Then we watched a show by "The Wiggles." Hayden loved it. She was dancing in her seat and then during the last song, she and her friends went up in front of the stage and were dancing like crazy. It was like they were at a concert. So hilarious!

Hayden topped off the day with a huge sucker. It was a great day!

Easter Festivities

Our friends, the Clements, had an Easter party on Saturday. The kids had fun playing a egg toss game.

Then it was time for an Easter egg hunt. Hayden had fun finding eggs but after about the 6th egg she was ready to just play with the toys outside. After the hunt we had a delicious potluck lunch. It was a very fun day.

The Easter bunny forgot to fill Hayden's basket during the night but came after we had all woken up. We told her the Easter bunny left her basket in her room and she yelled "yay" and ran as fast as she could to find it. She loved it. She especially loved her basket. She wanted to carry all day and show it to anyone who would pay attention.

We tried to get a cute picture of her in her Easter dress with her hair all curled, but she would not cooperate. She had to be holding her juice or diaper bag and kept whining and crying. Oh well, I guess.

We had regional conference for church and then headed home to cook the ham. We went to my brothers for dinner and had fun playing games and hanging out. It was a really great Easter. I hope you all had a great Easter too!

Eggs

We had playgroup at our house this week and we had a little Easter party.

We let the kids color eggs and did a little craft project. Hayden loved it. All of the other kids finished and Hayden was still sitting at the table stirring her egg around in the dye. She was not happy when it was time to clean up.

She was very proud of her eggs and was so excited to show Ryan when he came home from work. She was also very curious about the eggs. If you notice the orangeish pink egg, you'll see where she clawed a chunk out. Good times.

* As a side note Hayden now calls cameras "cheese" because we make her say cheese whenever we take her picture. Also, she calls all types of vehicles "choo-choos" no matter how many times I tell her otherwise. Oh funny girl...

Hayden's Update

I haven't posted anything about Hayden for about 3 months. I figured I should because she is always so busy. So here's a quick update on her.....

- She has been binky free for about 4 months now. She was down to her last binky and we decided as soon as that one was done we weren't buying anymore. A few days later, she bit the tip off of that binky and that was that. It was a lot easier than we expected.

- She loves to help me clean. One of her favorites is vacuuming. She has her own vacuum and goes right along side me. About a month ago, we vacuumed and then I had to go do something else. When I came back she had wound up the cord for me. It was so sweet!

- She learned how to smell things. Smelling is one of those things I don't really think about. I never thought about helping her learn to smell. Ryan got me tulips for Valentine's Day and she was messing with them. I told her to smell it and she put it up to her mouth. I showed her to use her nose and now she loves to smell everything.

- She colored on my walls! I realize now that you can't see the coloring in this picture, but she colored on all sides of the doors. Three different spots. Luckily, we still have the original flat paint and a can for touch ups. So, it wasn't too big of a deal. She did get in trouble and balled hysterically. I don't think she will be doing it again. The bottom picture is her uh-oh face.

- She said goodbye to her crib and hello to a big girl twin bed. I hate it. Her crib was wonderful because we would put her in and she would go right to sleep. No effort on our part. The bed is different. She gets out and comes into the hall. As soon as we head her way, she runs and jumps back in bed. This can go on for hours. So one of us eventually ends up sitting next to her until she falls asleep. Hopefully she learns to stay in there on her own soon....hopefully...please!!

- She is a talker! She knows a lot of words but she also babbles. Several people have commented on the fact that she talks a lot and it's so true. She also loves to sing. She knows that music books mean singing. She will find a music book or hymn book and carry it around singing and singing. She is going to be our musical prodigy.

Those are some of the things she's been up to. She is so fun. She definitely has an attitude but it's great to have her around :)

Salt Lake Trip

We went to Salt Lake for 2 weeks and it was such a nice break. We were able to see most of our family and a lot of our friends. The batteries in my camera died right when we got there and I didn't change them until the end of the trip so we only have 2 pictures. We ate at Cafe Rio multiple times (have to get our fix when we can), played at the park, went to the aquarium, played games, Ryan went golfing, etc.... It was really relaxing and such a great time!
